Summary

Tesco are providing fruit and vegetable grants of up to £1,500 for non-profit organisations that seek to improve access to fruit and vegetables for children.

Grant Purpose

This grant intends to improve access to fruit and vegetables for children through the funding of non-profit organisations.

From providing nutritious food in fun ways like smoothie classes through to learning how fruit and vegetables grows, they welcome applications that use healthy food to support nutritious diets of children and young people across the UK.

This could include providing fruit or healthy snacks in school, introducing or supporting breakfast or holiday clubs, cooking or gardening initiatives to grow your very own fruit and vegetables or providing much-needed half time power for a sports club.

Every four months, three local projects are selected to be in the customer vote in Tesco stores throughout the UK.

Eligibility Criteria

Grants will be awarded primarily to schools, and groups that support children and young people. These can include voluntary or community organisations (including registered charities/companies), Sports teams for young people, uniformed services (Brownies, Guides, Scouts, Cadets etc, nurseries and playgroups.

Applications are not eligible from:

  • Individuals
  • Community Interest Companies with shares (CIC’s)
  • Community Interest Companies with guarantee that are less than two years old
  • Profit-making organisations

Examples of eligible projects:

  • Breakfast/after school clubs that provides fruit and veg for pupils
  • Youth clubs that provide a healthy meal/snack
  • Foodbanks to provide food support to families
  • Growing initiatives to grow your own fruit and veg or cooking classes using the food to learn

Examples of ineligible projects:

  • Work that has already taken place
  • Political donations
  • Fundraising activities or challenges (e.g. costs for a sky dive etc.)
  • Running costs and organisation overheads
  • Conferences or seminars
  • Activities which collect funds for redistribution to other charities or individuals
  • Overseas appeals
  • Expeditions or overseas travel
  • Promotion of a religious or political cause
  • Marketing promotions
  • Research projects
