Summary

Grants of up to £50,000 for up to 3 years (CICs and Registered Charities) for various funding themes relating to certain areas of impact they are looking to target.

Grant Purpose

To be eligible for funding, your organisation’s main aims and objectives must fit with one of the funding themes listed below:

  • Enabling participation in the arts – Organisations whose core work helps people overcome specific barriers to accessing the arts. Applications must show how their activities directly remove, or support people to overcome, these barriers
  • Preventing or reducing the impact of poverty – Organisations that support people at risk of or living in poverty. Applications must demonstrate specialist, ongoing support that directly addresses the causes or impacts of poverty
  • Supporting marginalised groups and/or tackling inequality – Organisations whose primary purpose is to support specific marginalised communities to fully participate in social, economic, political or cultural life. Applicants must be able to demonstrate how their work helps overcome systemic barriers
  • Improving mental health – Organisations that support people experiencing mental ill-health, rather than general mental wellbeing. Applicants must demonstrate ongoing, specific support for mental health conditions as a core purpose, rather than occasional or general social, wellbeing activities
    • Our focus will be on organisations that are actively supporting specific mental health issues, rather than general mental wellbeing activities.

Their physical activity and environment themes are delivered through their partnership programmes – Sported and The Wildlife Trusts, so please take our eligibility quiz to see if one of these programmes would be more suitable. If the core purpose of your organisation is around physical activity or the environment, please apply to these programmes instead.

If your income in your last financial year is under £25,000 you can apply for their Groundwork programme instead.

Eligibility Criteria

They welcome applications from:

  • Registered Charities – Organisations registered with either The Charity Commission in England or Wales, or with OSCR in Scotland.
  • Community Interest Companies (CIC’s) with an asset lock (Schedule 1 and 2 only) – please note we do not award funds to CIC Schedule 3. If the objects section in the governing document is blank or unclear, we will require the CIC36 ‘Community Interest Statement’ form to assess the application.
  • Community Benefit Societies – registered with the Financial Conduct Authority, owned by the members. The society is established for the benefit of the community and not its members.

If you are a different type of good cause, like a constituted community group or other not-for-profit organisation, then please visit our partnership programmes for information about available funding.

Organisations must also meet the following criteria to be eligible to apply:

  • Your organisation’s income should be between £10,000 and £1million in the most recent financial year (organisations with an income of less than £250k may be prioritised). In 2025, 85% of organisations awarded funding had an income of less than £250k.
  • They require at least three Directors/Trustees to be in place and no more than 50% of the members service as Trustees or Directors can be related.
  • The organisation’s aims and objectives must align with at least one of the funding themes listed on the Funding Themes page. Applications without clear alignment will be considered ineligible.
