Butterfly Hospice Support Groups

Introduction

The Butterfly Hospice in Boston provide a number of support groups as part of their Butterfly Therapy to provide help and support for carers, people with mental health issues and people suffering with the bereavement of a loved one.

Carers’ Café Carers Support Group

When caring for others we often neglect our own social contact with others. The Butterfly Hospice Carers group is a safe space to meet with others who understand the challenges you might be facing, share a similar experience and understand what you might be going through.

Within their groups they hope to provide an opportunity to grow new friendships, as well as a source of comfort and a place to seek advice, at a time when the thought of meeting people may seem daunting.

This group will run on the third Tuesday of each month from 10:30am to 12:30pm.

Butterfly Embrace Bereavement Support Group

When we are grieving it is not unusual to feel more alone than ever before. The aim of this group is to offer a safe space to meet with others who share a similar experience and understand what you might be going through.

Within these groups the Hospice hope to provide an opportunity to grow new friendships, as well as a source of comfort and a place to seek advice, at a time when the thought of meeting people may seem daunting.

This group will run on the first Tuesday of each month from 10:30am to 12:30pm.

Walk and Talk Group

Supporting your mental health.

Just being outdoors and connecting with nature can help with both our emotional and physical wellbeing, so feel free to join them.

They offer an opportunity to join others and share thoughts and experiences, or just to be with your own thoughts as you walk with others.

No booking necessary, just meet with up at the Dion’s Wood car park.

As of 6th November, the Walk n Talk group is now moving back to a Thursday and will be held weekly.  That is meet each Thursday at 10:00am by the Dion’s Wood car park gate, Willoughby Road, Boston.

All are welcome, where they will meet, stroll and chat, finishing with a cuppa in the therapy Village pods.

Butterfly and Bees Children’s Support Group

The Butterfly Hospice need an initial cohort of children to run the group and are looking for up to 8 (happy to run with around 3 or 4 in this first cohort) children from families who are struggling because a relative (parent, sibling, close relative etc) is terminally ill or bereaved.

This is free! There is no cost to the family or referring agency.

Referrals can be made from schools, GPs, community teams and other agencies or self-referral.

Butterfly & Bees is NOT a counselling service. It is a Person-centred support service for those families dealing with a life-limiting condition or bereavement. All families referred to the service will be invited to a ‘Family conference’ after which adults, if required will be referred into Butterfly Therapy Service.

Children aged 8 to 15 will, if appropriate, be referred into The Bees Support Group.

‘Bees’ is held on the first Saturday morning of each month, over 8 sessions.
