LIVES is introducing a new community health programme, delivering free blood pressure and lifestyle checks alongside vital CPR training.
This initiative supports early detection of heart disease and encourages healthier choices, by bringing preventative health checks and life-saving training directly to communities across Lincolnshire.
LIVES responders act as quickly as possible to improve the survival chances of patients in cardiac arrest (Heart attack), but even with the help they provide, survival rates of cardiac arrests are low. Less than 10%. This year, they are piloting a preventative program to improve heart health and prevent cardiac arrests by tackling them before they begin.
With help from West Lindsey District Council and Medlock Charitable Trust the aim is to deliver this project by hosting 4-hour sessions throughout 2026 across a range of rural and urban locations, with winter months being held indoors and then moving outside during the summer months (weather permitting!).
Each session invites members of the public to take a quick 15-minute heart health check or learn some CPR skills, or both!
LIVES have begun recruitment for this exciting new project and voluntary role, and they would love to hear from anyone who might be interested.
The project will be active from February to December 2026 in the West Lindsey and Boston areas, and they ask volunteers to be able to commit to 2 delivery sessions each month.
All training will be provided free of charge, and reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed.
