This year, a dedicated team of six runners is proudly participating in the Great North Run (GNR) on Sunday, 13th September 2026, to raise vital funds for Veterans For Veterans in Care (VFVIC).
Also, residents at care homes will collectively walk or cycle 13.1 miles, mirroring the half-marathon distance, in an inspirational attempt to raise vital funds for Veterans For Veterans in Care between 7th and 13th September 2026.
John Hambling (Chairman VFVIC) says “We have just launched our GNR Challenge, where we are inviting care homes to get their residents involved by walking or hand-cycling 13.1 miles to raise funds to help us find our ‘Forgotten Army’.
We already have 4 Lincolnshire homes signed up, and a press release is going out today. This event will help promote wellbeing amongst the residents, increase exercise and movement, and strengthen community spirit both in the home and beyond.”
Their collective goal is to raise £6,130 and every donation counts.
