Welcome to Lincolnshire Vision for Volunteering
As we develop this vision we draw on learning and inspiration from the national Vision for Volunteering.
What the National Vision for Volunteering is
- The Vision is a ten-year collaborative project designed to create a better future for volunteering.
- A view of what volunteering could look like by 2032
- A collaborative, grass-roots focused project designed to help you think about what works and doesn't work for you
What the National Vision for Volunteering is not
- A rigid structure to aspire to
- Something that is being imposed upon you
Why is the Vision Needed?
- Volunteering currently isn’t accessible or equally enjoyable for everyone
- We saw huge changes happen for volunteers and their activities during the Covid-19 pandemic, but not all of this was positive or permanent
- We also see changing patterns in who volunteers, how and in what activities and roles
What Difference do we Hope the Lincolnshire Vision for Volunteering Will Make
The Vision for Volunteering tackles five key themes, which are:
Awareness and Appreciation
We want to see a county where volunteering is valued and given a high profile. We want to shout about the difference that volunteers are making and the significant contribution they make to the local economy. We want volunteers to feel good about the difference they are making and to be able to encourage others to step forward.
Equity and Inclusion
We believe everyone can make a difference. We are interested in who is not represented in volunteering and whose voice is not being heard in shaping what volunteering looks like. We want to encourage VIOs to work harder to make sure that volunteering opportunities are open and accessible to all.
Power
We want all communities across Lincolnshire to have a voice and to be able to shape what volunteering looks like for them, in their place. We want volunteers to have a greater say about when and how they volunteer and what they would like from their volunteering.
Collaboration
We will not be working in isolation on this initiative. We want to be catalysts to enable volunteering to be the best it can be across the county and to take a lead to make sure that real change happens.
Experimentation
We are keen that volunteering evolves to suit the needs of the local community. We want to try some new things and inspire people to have a go. We want to encourage volunteers and VIOs to try something new.
In Lincolnshire we aspire to adopt these themes to promote volunteering as a force for good and a catalyst for change. We will do this by showcasing excellence in volunteering with local organisations and volunteers.
We launched Vision for Volunteering in June 2024, with the following logo.

We have already held a conference aimed at volunteer managers and marketplace events aimed at volunteers, with more planned for 2026, so watch this space for more details.
